Buyers 'can get better deals on anything' in the current climate
03 December 2008
An independent property information website has claimed that there are excellent deals to be found for buyers in the current market slump.Recent research by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors revealed that the average house was selling for nine per cent below the original asking price during September.
Now Kate Faulkner, managing director of Designs on Property, has explained that this discrepancy is a situation which can be used to a buyer's advantage for any type of property.
She said: "Low confidence in the market means that you, as a buyer, can get better deals. You can get better deals on anything at this moment in time."
Ms Faulkner added that it is a "fantastic time to purchase a property in the long term", which means that anyone looking to sell in the coming months could make improvements such as building a conservatory for when prices begin to recover.
The Rightmove House Price Index from November 2008 found that the average asking price for a property stood at £222,979 - down by 2.9 per cent compared to October and by 7.1 per cent compared to the same point last year.
